Leon left the Leeds Rhinos Academy Team , then joined Hunslet Hawks & Amateur Club Driglington, so he could carry on playing & training. Not long after Leon was approached by Alan Hunt (coach for SALFORD City Reds) & Dave Robinson ( Scout), who said " its not often we come for a yorkshire lad to play for a lancashire team" . This is when Leon joined the reds under 18's team in 2006. This certainly paid off , his first presentation night leon was awarded The Players Player & Coaches Award. In 2007 Leon was awarded the Players Player award for the second year running. He was also called up to represent Yorkshire against Lancashire in the Roses game where he was awarded "MAN OF THE MATCH" , then came his call up for the England against France game in St Esteve to win victory 40-12.Leon Always gave 110% , he played hard & trained hard, to succeed in the sport he loved so much "RUGBY LEAGUE".Away from the field his other chosen subject was Scaffolding with his mad mate "OGGY", (DIK N LIDDY) we called them boy did they have a time.Leon was offered a first team contract with the Reds, but unfortunateley never got the break he longed for, and this is when he made his move back across the pennines to join The Wakefield Wildcats. Leon was over the moon to be back playing for a local team. Sadly this was crueley cut short on the 22nd March 2009 playing a game against Celtic Crusaders in Maesteg. We have no doubt in our minds that Leon would have gone all the way in his Rugby Career had he had the chance, but sadly this was not meant to be. His memory will live on "FOREVER" through so many people but the love his family has for him will never die.
